Brookbanks was approached to carry out an independent measure of all the drawing changes so they could challenge the increase in costs due to drawing changes.
Our Role
The groundworks contractor submitted a variation claiming circa £314k related to various foundation and roads & sewers drawing changes on a site in Great Haddon, Peterborough. We carried out a thorough review and assisted the client on the site. As a result of our work, we found circa £100k of savings, which the client successfully recovered from the groundworker.
The Outcome
Reduced contractor variation costs by £100k on a development in Peterborough by reviewing drawing changes, tender documents and carrying out our own measures to check what the groundworks contractor had submitted. Our review resulted in a saving of over £100k for the client. We have helped the Landowner to ‘set out their stall’ to the groundworker who will now think twice before submitting another inflated variation.
