Bridgend College
Bridgend College supports more than 7,500 students across three campuses in Bridgend, Pencoed, and Queens Road. Brookbanks have helped construct a £50 million new town centre campus providing 13,000m² of education space spread over two buildings.
Our Role
- The construction of new buildings that will provide exceptional teaching and learning facilities, including a theatre, hair and beauty salons, recording and dance studios, design workshops, and more.
- We provided a 750k saving on the original consultant provided tender structure at RIBA Stage 3
- We were appointed for Civil & Structural designs from concept. Collaborating with planning and detailed design team
The Outcome
- Creating a modern learning and teaching facilities, combined with community benefits including a 200-seat theatre space, a coffee shop and flexible meeting spaces.
- The building consists of an 8-storey concrete framed flat slab structure with a steel framed clear spanning theatre.
- Building built over an existing backfilled quarry. Specialist piling techniques and void spanning foundations were therefore required.
