Rob Houlston

Structural Engineer

Rob is an accomplished Senior Structural Engineer with over 20 years’ experience in the industry. Throughout his career, he has successfully delivered a wide range of projects varying in scale and complexity.
Rob began his career in modular construction, gaining valuable hands-on experience in understanding the practical realities of the build process. This grounding continues to inform his modern design approach, ensuring that projects are not only technically robust but also meet cost and programme targets.
His portfolio includes the delivery of major prefabricated structures airside at Heathrow Airport and the successful completion of 13-storey residential towers in central Birmingham. Rob also has extensive experience in the residential sector, from single dwellings and multi-plot developments to large, complex apartment blocks – always with a focus on achieving high-quality outcomes within tight programme and budget constraints.
In recent years, Rob has developed a particular expertise in the planning, design and delivery of complex refurbishment and repurposing projects. Notable examples include the conversion of a steel framed data centre into a modern open-plan office near Heathrow Airport, and the transformation of a concrete-framed building into a high-end contemporary office development incorporating additional storeys.
Across all his work, Rob applies a personable and proactive approach, placing strong emphasis on the structural engineer’s responsibility to deliver safe, efficient and commercially viable designs. His commitment to professionalism and precision ensures that projects are delivered on time and on cost.
