Greenwich Millennium Village is the first of the Government’s Millennium Communities. We have been appointed to develop the mechanical, electrical, public health and lift services designs for a 13-storey residential block comprising communal amenity space at ground-floor level.

Our Role

The 66 residential units have been designed to high specification fit-out requirements. We undertook comprehensive dynamic simulation modelling to establish the most cost-effective energy solutions and meet the GLA carbon reduction targets. Mechanical cooling measures were utilised to mitigate against overheating, and three façades were enhanced with acoustic seals to reduce noise intrusion from the dredgers operating on the Thames.

The Outcome

We have taken on a client technical advisory role across the entire site. A range of passive and active energy management measures are being incorporated into our designs. These include a district energy network and large energy centre, photovoltaics, CHP technology, and low energy lights with daylight sensors. Energy display devices will be installed in each apartment, enabling purchasers to help reduce energy use.
