This 20,900ft2 temple was constructed over a period of 14-years using hand-carved stone shipped from India. Housing eleven inner temples, and 29 smaller sanctums, it is crucial to the Hindu faith that no ferrous metals are used at any point within the building: no underlying structural steel; not even a single bolt.

Our Role

We were appointed to undertake the mechanical, electrical and public health designs utilising services where all materials were non-ferrous. To meet the brief, whilst ensuring the integrity and lifespan of the services were not compromised, we carefully sourced and specified equipment to meet these requirements.

The Outcome

The electrical elements of our designs comprised internal lighting schemes, small power services, and fire detection/suppression systems, whilst externally we developed sensitive external façade lighting, and lightning protection systems. Underfloor heating serves the large expanse of Makrana marble floor, and the entire temple is naturally ventilated. Internal drainage systems, and the specialist external rainwater drainage, are all made from copper.

Our responsibilities also comprised on-site monitoring during the construction period, as well as witnessing and commissioning as required.
