Godley Green is set to create a new sustainable garden village that evolves around the existing communities and landscape.

Our Role

Initially, Brookbanks‘ involvement sought opportunities for holistic masterplan enhancement to embed sustainable principles into the proposed development from the outset, encompassing the three core pillars of sustainability, commercial, environmental and social amenity.

This was achieved through working in step with the appointed architect to create a better sense of place meanwhile ensuring the cost feasibility was considered.

Additionally, we led the utility strategy for the Garden Village and appraised servicing options currently reviewing site servicing options, including plot air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps or district heating. We are also supporting the team with managing existing utility constraints on the site including retention of large gas mains and diversion of other infrastructure.

The Outcome

Through critically appraising technical challenges and constraints, we have provided innovative solutions to level up the masterplan. Through our detailed earthworks appraisal, we have developed a balanced phased material movement strategy for the scheme that seeks to optimise phasing. Additionally, our SuDS appraisal sought to enhance value through challenging the outline SW strategy to provide a more sustainable approach through looking to reduce below ground storage tank requirements.

Overall, our work has provided an enhanced masterplan following Outline Application to carry forward sustainable principles as RMAs progress.
